Earth Rangers App Helps Parents Raise Eco-Conscious Children

If you follow my work, you’ll know that I am a tech enthusiast.  I have always taken a positive and optimistic view of how technology can be harnessed to improve our lives when done properly.  One such example is the launch of Earth Rangers new app for kids and families.

If you don’t know Earth Rangers, you should.   They are wonderful Canadian non-profit organization that helps educate and inspire children to become social activists in world conservation efforts.   In fact, they are the world’s largest children’s conservation organization with over 200,000 members.  Perhaps some of your kids have told you about the Earth Rangers programs that are run at their schools.

I have also talked on length about the need for children to be empowered to know they can make a difference from an early age, and about raising kids that have something called “social interest”. Social interest means developing a care and concern for others before your own self-interests.  Earth Ranger’s does just that and here’s how.  You see, children are naturally drawn to the wonders of the natural world. If this planet is going to survive the challenges of global warming and development, we have to nurture a care for mother earth and all its inhabitants in the generations to follow.   We have to instill a love of the planet so that kids, for example, understand things like, their desire for a plastic drinking straw in their juice box is less important than the microbeads of plastics that end up killing our oceans.

That is what makes Earth Rangers new app so awesome.   The app developers know how kids love to engage with online experiences, so they have used the principles of gamification to engage kids’ interest with something of real moral value.  The app creates exciting learning interfaces that further mobilizes the children’s enthusiasm to offline. It helps families engage together “in real life” (IRL) activities that they can do in their own communities and then report back about it back online with others.  This is an app that promotes positive family interaction and conservations efforts that will have a real measured impact on the health of our planet and its natural inhabitants.

The Earth Rangers app encourages co-play between members, nourishes education, and sets a child up to take the good they have learned online and out into community eco-activities.

The Earth Rangers app is available to download now in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. I encourage you to check them out here!   https://www.earthrangers.com/ Earth Rangers members can use the code ALYSON to get 10 extra bonus points!
