Summer Reading List: Resources

Dear Fellow Adlerian Parents,
How is your summer going so far? It’s just racing by for me, even though I am consciously trying to slow down my family, as I recommended to others in the recent HuffPost Parents Canada article I wrote.
It has been an exceptional month that included moving to a new home and a new office. I was not even unpacked when I threw in a trip to NYC to see the amazing hit musical Hamilton on the closing night with the original cast. And finally, I joined some of the teachers to present a poster about the North Toronto Early Years Learning Centre Adlerian nursery school at the First International Positive Education Network conference in Dallas Texas. Yes, Dallas – all the flags were at half-mast. It has been trying times, but it only deepens my commitment to my work and to spreading our ideas further.
During the conference I had a chance to hear keynotes from Martin Selgiman, Angela Duckworth, Sir Anthony Seldon, Shawn Anchor and Michelle Gilean. All speakers have great books out that I recommend:
(I know, there seems to be a strong focus on achieving happiness!)
In addition, we heard from documentary film maker Tiffany Shlain who has these amazing short docs http://www.letitripple.org/films/ that you will find amazing. I will be supporting her participation in World Character Day, Sept 22, 2016. You can find more details here and in my September Newsletter.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Alyson
